What is the quality of all these directories as there seems so many?
I would guess there are one to three new directories started everyday. Most general, many english and some niche. Many, even up to a thousand are no good over time but we simply scrape all new ones we can - ALL - but we like high PR. Then we grow the list and delete thoses that are not working at that moment, although it may be re-included later. More the merrier and we clean as we go.
How do I know my site has been submitted to all these directories?

If you look at our service you will note it is for mass submission. High quality sites are now a target of Google testing for paid or manipulative linking. We just do mass links and yes blogs are the best due to the surrounding article and keywords. But also directories as you are placed into the correct category and so again similar sites and their keywords are all on the page.
We are really talking about link juice and so the article need only be keywords arranged within good grammar, to be on topic and it is really link dropping. To rank now in the engines you need very large quantities of links and this will hold true for a while yet.
